Welcome
to the
Naesmyth Genealogical Society's
Home Page
The Society was conceived on the 30th of November 1983 and has continued to grow with numerous members joining each year. Today, members span the entire globe.
One of the primary focuses of the society is to collect and preserve literary, historical and genealogical documents and records as well as relics relating to the history of the NaeSmyths (and all Sept spellings). All assistance is appreciated.
A National Naesmyth Family Workshop is held each year on the weekend preceding Memorial Day (USA) at the Statesboro, Bulloch County Regional Library in Statesboro, Georgia from 12:00 noon on Friday and runs until 12:00 noon on Sunday. The business meeting is always held on the Saturday.
In 1990 the Society published the book; Naesmyth Descendants of Georgia, USA by John W. NesSmith (Hardbound - 582 pages with photos and short biographies - Library of Congress Catalog Card Number: 90-60126). This book was a genealogical listing of all the, then known descendants of the "Georgia Naesmyth Line". The Georgia line includes various "Sept" surname spellings such as; Nesmith, NeSmith, Nessmith, NesSmith and NeeSmith. This book is available from the Society by contacting: Bonnie W. Gay - Society President at bfwgay@nctv.com
In 2001, the Society released the first supplement to the 1990 book (compiled by Robert H. Donahue, Sr.). This supplement not only includes additions and corrections to the known "Georgia Line", but also includes information submitted for the "New Hampshire Line" and the "Pennsylvania Line". Orders are being accepted at this time. Supplements are being produced on an "as ordered" basis. To gain the most benefit of the supplement, it is highly recommended that those individuals primarily interested in the "Georgia Line", also purchase the original book (the supplement heavily refers to the book). Although not necessary, all others purchasing the supplement are "encouraged" to purchase the original book. It is a true heirloom to be passed from generation to generation. For more information about the book, the supplement or membership, please contact Bonnie W. Gay.
