The Naesmyth Family Tree
The family tree provided here is intended to assist those in search
of their family heritage within the Naesmyth Family. It is incomplete but for the most
part, accurate. There are errors and omissions. With your help, we can make it better.
When compiling this family tree, some rules (guidelines) were needed
to keep it simple, consistent and as accurate as possible. These rules are as follows:
- Rule 1 - All rules have
exceptions.
- Rule 2 - Individuals whose
first names are not known are listed as 'Male' or 'Female'. (i.e., Male Naesmyth)
- Rule 3 - Individuals whose
surnames are not known are listed by their spouse's surname followed by '-Spouse' (i.e.,
Joan Naesmyth-Spouse)
- Rule 4 - Children whose
surname is not known because no father is known, are listed by their mother's surname
followed by '-Child' (i.e., Betsy Naesmyth-Child)
- Rule 5 - Children who are
known to exist yet their forename is not known, are listed by either their father's or
mother's surname (father preferred, mother's if father is unknown) followed by
'-Child[ren]' (i.e., One Naesmyth-Child or Seven Naesmyth-Children)
- Rule 6 - Proper Capitalization
has been attempted. As you know, there are many ways to capitalize the numerous spelling
variants of Naesmyth. (i.e., Naesmyth, Nesmith, NeSmith, Nessmith, NeSmith, etc.)
If you are listed with improper capitalization, we apologize. Please notify us, we will
correct it.
- Rule 7 - Since the special
capitalization rules of number 6 above are being used, surnames that are spelled the same,
but of different capitalization are treated as different surnames. So, if you
don't find your name under 'NeSmith', don't dispair. You may still find it under
'Nesmith'. This is true of all surnames with various spellings and/or
capitalization.
- Rule 8 - Dual (Old Style/New Style) Dates will be used for
time periods requiring such. (i.e., JAN 8 1729/30)
- Rule 9 - No omissions are
intentional.
- Rule 10 - Every attempt has
been made to remove private information about living individuals. (i.e.,
Birth-date, birth-place, etc.) If you find this not to be true, we apologize. Please notify us, we will
correct it.
- Rule 11 - This family tree,
as all family trees, is in a constant state of change.
- Rule 12- Rules will be added as
needed.
Please enjoy this information, but please do not rely on it
as fact or as a means of determining inheritance. It is merely a starting point to assist
